This is written in plain English on purpose — no legal jargon, just what you're actually agreeing to by using Ranked Football.
Who we are
Ranked Football is a booking platform, not a football provider. We don't book pitches, and we don't run the sessions themselves — the host does that. Our role is to bring players and hosts together, handle bookings, run the ranking system, and collect payment on the host's behalf.
Who can use this
You must be 16 or older to create an account. By signing up, you're confirming that's true.
Booking and payment
When you book a session, you pay online at the time you book. That payment is made up of two separate parts:
- The pitch fee — this is the host's money. We collect it on the host's behalf and pass it on to them; it never belongs to us.
- Our platform fee — a small, fixed amount for using Ranked Football, calculated automatically. This is the only part of the price that's actually ours.
Because we're acting as the host's agent for collecting the pitch fee, the contract for the football session itself is between you and the host — not between you and us. Our contract with you covers the booking service, the ranking system, and our platform fee.
A booking only becomes final once payment goes through. If you start paying and don't finish, your spot isn't held indefinitely — it's released after a short window so someone else can take it.
Around an hour before kickoff, bookings for that session close and teams are locked in. After that point, it's treated as a firm commitment.
Cancelling a booking
Before the 1-hour lock, you can cancel your own booking:
- If someone else takes your spot, you get a full refund.
- If nobody takes your spot, you're refunded everything except a small, non-refundable card processing fee.
After the lock, bookings can't be cancelled for a refund — the same way most pitch bookings work once a venue has been paid for.
If a session doesn't get enough players by the lock time, or the host cancels it, everyone who paid is refunded in full automatically.
Ratings
Every player has a rating based on wins, losses, and draws. Your first 5 games count double, so your rating settles quickly. Your rating is private by default — only you can see it, unless you choose to appear on the public leaderboard.
Hosting a session
Hosts are responsible for actually booking and paying for the pitch with the venue, and for the session itself once it's underway. We're the platform that finds players, manages bookings, and collects payment on the host's behalf — we don't rent the pitch, and we're not the ones running the session on the day.
Hosts must give their real name to host a session, so there's real accountability if something goes wrong.
Hosts confirm the final score and Man of the Match after a session. This is what updates everyone's rating, so please be honest about it.
Playing safely
Football carries a normal risk of injury, like any physical sport. By joining a session, you're accepting that risk. We'd always recommend making sure you're fit to play and warming up properly.
Behaviour
Be decent to other players and hosts. We may remove access to the platform for anyone who's abusive, dishonest about results, or repeatedly fails to show up to sessions they've booked.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page as the platform grows. If we make a significant change, we'll do our best to make that clear.
